Angular Momentum Catches a Koi
The Angular Momentum is a watch company known for its unusual dial displays. One of its latest creation, a Koi wallowing in muddy water. The watch name, "The Aquarium" is quite apt since the Koi is visible via a Sapphire crystal protecting the dial.
Angular Momentum created this excellent Koi replica by using high relief engraving on 925 sterling silver and purple gold treated with ruthenium treat surfaces. The watch case is crafted fro Staybrite steel with polished and satin finished surfaces measuring at 43mm wide and a 16mm thick.
The thickness enables a space between the sapphire crystal above and the murky scene below creating an impression of murky watery depth. A single diamond eye adds a subtle glamor to an otherwise drab fish. The fish is laying in swirling mud crafted from traditional black Irishime Urushi natural lacquer.
The watch is wound by the swinging motion of ones arm in other words an automatic movement. The time is displayed via a relatively subdued porthole at the 12 'o'clock position. A single disc rotates indicating the time.
A black onyx stone cabochon is regally place atop the crown adding a distinct elegance to this unlikely subject matter. A Koi is known for its resilience and durability able to survive in less than optimum conditions. Some can survive over 200 years old and quickly adapt to different environments. In Japan, a Koi is representative of good luck, prosperity, strength of character, perseverance, determination and ambition. It is no wonder Angular Momentum captured the image of a Koi.

The Devons Tread 1
Inspired by industrial conveyor belts and motorcycles, the debut watch from Devon’s new timepieces is the Tread 1. Featuring a new movement based around the company’s patented interwoven system of glass nylon time belts, an optical recognition system ensures the belts are in the correct position. The belts are driven by four microstep motors, which is powered by a lithium polymer rechargeable cell that will run for up to two weeks on a single charge. The watch was designed with the help of a Californian aerospace engineering company, which should go some way to justifying its $15,000 asking price.

World’s Most Expensive Rolex Watches
Rolex, according to BusinessWeek, is one of the world’s 100 most valuable brands. The Swiss company’s timepieces are almost synonymous with wealth and status, but Rolex is curiously absent from the list of the world’s top ten most expensive watches. That’s why we’ve decided to let you know about the most expensive Rolex watches in the world.
The most expensive Rolex ever sold at auction was a “Paul Newman” Rolex Oyster Cosmograph “Daytona” sold at a Sotheby’s event in June, 2003. This prototype wristwatch, featuring a red dial and black sub-dials, was produced in 1979. It sold for £210,000—around US $350,000. Rumors persist regarding a Rolex sold at Selfridges in London for a fantastic price of £8 million—over US $15 million—but they seem to be rumors only.

Designer Denis Guidone has designed four new watches, including this one called Ora Imprecisa.
The hour and minute hands of Ora Imprecisa (above) are represented by black and red squiggles respectively.
The Ora ilLegale clock (above) can be tilted on its base to set it forward one hour for summer time.
The red minute hand of Tempo Libero (below) is painted onto the rotating watch face, while the black hour hand uses a normal mechanism.
(Err)ore (above) has a red, jagged hand representing the passing minutes.
“Both hands together resemble a graphical gestures, a shape that changes as time passes,” says Guidone.
